ROOMTWENTYEIGHT

Opened: December 15.

What: A modern bistro-style restaurant on the ground floor of new boutique hotel, urbn.

Look: Smart, but relaxed. The dining room is framed on one side by floor-to-ceiling glass windows that overlook the bamboo in a small garden. The high ceilings, black wood floors, a marble bar, and the opposite wall, done partially in marble, lend the smartness. The furniture and view of the kitchen add the comfort.

Food: Modernized classics. Standards like a char-grilled steak and duck confit are both here, but so is a suckling pig with apple and mustard, and scallops with curry lentils and roast tomato chutney.

People: The ones behind Wagas run it, and customers looking for the same mix of style and value in a more upscale restaurant will fill it.

Bill: ¥200-250 per person for dinner.
