Zara

It’s taken its time but Spanish clothing label Zara has finally landed in Shanghai to give the city’s other high street stores a run for their money. Suitably located along the shopping hub of Nanjing Xi Lu, this European giant has packed in its extensive and affordable range of smart casuals and denims for men and women over a palatial two floor shopping space. Brown marble floors complement their palette for spring and summer featuring ivory, khaki, and tan tones alongside nautical colors and stripes. Find all the catwalk trends in their women’s line – ruffles, crocheted detail and all things floaty and feminine, while their men’s line includes lightweight casuals in military shades and smart shirts (¥400-500) and suits. Also check out Zara’s range of tees, a timeless wardrobe staple (¥100- 200) emblazoned with a variety of playful logos and prints.

ZE NAN SPA

Zen (Xizang Zhong Lu)

Zen (Changshou Lu)

Opened: Dec 27.

What: An arts and handicrafts store selling photo frames, tea sets, candles, dishes, oil lamps – all those things that make a thoroughly desireable abode... oh, and a fireplace. This is a great place to look for gift ideas or household ornaments.

Look: Oil paintings decorate the walls to the right and in a smaller second room tucked away in the corner of the shop. Also, look to the ceiling of  this little room – the elegant crystal light fixtures are also for sale and worth consideration. Elsewhere gaze upon decorative bird cages, bowls, cups, statuettes, and brightly colored salt shakers. It’s all very inviting.
