CASTLE OKTOBER
Opens: Mar 31.
What: Elegantly restored Taxation Bureau converted into a three-story upscale restaurant offering “European Continental Cuisine” and beer on tap from its very own brewery.
Look: Traditional German architecture with a pleasant garden and relaxing outdoor patio ideal for summer socializing. Indoors, the first-floor bar area features a local tavern atmosphere complete with wooden booths and a full bar that serves their house beers on tap. The second floor dining area carries much the same ambiance. A third floor private party room is located in a wooden loft.
Food: A variety of hearty European meat classics accompanied by appetizers, rich soups, and classic desserts. Of note on the menu are the German sausage dishes, the Scandinavian fish platter, and retro-fave Tournedos Rossini. On the drink list, of course, the local brewery is sure to tempt you with its own sweet weiss bier, smooth pilsner bier, or velvety dunkles bier.
People: Working professionals, French concession couples, and beer lovers.
Bill: Around ¥300 each for three courses. The house-brewed beers go for ¥68 per pint.
