Pantomime: Aladdin
Zuloo theater group have pushed back their annual pantomime, so there’s still chance to get tickets. If you’re British, you’ll be familiar with the whole “Oh no he didn’t! Oh yes he did…” spiel. If you’ve never seen a panto before, make Aladdin your first. Heroics, genies, and the customary baddie. Oh, and a yeti. Some of the profits will go to Shanghai charities. Price TBA. THIS WEEK
I Have a Date with SpringA musical drama based on 90s Hong Kong TV series, about the exploits of performer Butterfly Yiu and three of her friends at the Flower Palace Nightclub in the ‘60s. Folk Dance by Zhu Jiejing

Gold Coast Daily Show
If you’ve got friends or family visiting, and want to show them what your adopted homeland has to offer when it comes to musical theater, take them to Gold Coast. We’re not sure why it’s named after a stretch of Australian beach, but it’s a lot of fun. It’s mostly in Mandarin and Shanghainese, but there are some sections in English. 40-160 RMB. 8:30pm. Classic of China
If you’ve ever wanted to find out about Chinese traditional costumes, this is your chance. In the space of an hour, you’ll see over a thousand costumes from China’s history, coupled with dance to bring the outfits alive. 120-280 RMB. Daily @ 7.30pm. Shanghai Acrobatic Show
Got guests in town? This is a must. China is famous for its acrobats, and this show displays their prowess. Tumbling, jumping, leaping, balancing, and all that jazz. Regular price 150-280 RMB.
